Student exchange as well.
France
The Gymnasium Nordenham has had a partner school in Fumay, France, for more than twenty-five years. From 1982 to 2013, the exchange was regularly organized by Ms. Manuela Stender and supported by Ms. Anja Volkmann. After a break of several years—mainly due to a low number of students learning German at the French partner school—the French department resumed the exchange program in 2019: In April, 19 guest students from the French Ardennes visited Gymnasium Nordenham for 10 days, and in June of the same year, 20 seventh and eighth graders from Nordenham made the return visit to France. The plan is to continue the exchange every two years from now on.
Sweden & Turkey
Between 2012 and 2014, Gymnasium Nordenham also maintained school partnerships with Krokom/Sweden and Kayseri/Turkey. Unfortunately, these two projects could not be continued.
The coordination and management of school exchange matters has been handled by Ms. Ines Ighnaimat-Becker since 2013. Financial support for the visits is primarily provided by the school's support association ("Alumni Association"), under the leadership of Pamela Schneider.
Since the beginning of 2013, Gymnasium Nordenham has been registered on the PAD (Pädagogischer Austauschdienst) platform and is actively seeking additional contacts with interested schools, particularly in English-, French-, and Spanish-speaking countries.
